Tubing F.A.Q.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Absolutely! In order to accommodate you, we need to know you are coming. If you don't make a reservation we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you.

What do I need to make a reservation?

When you call in to make a reservation, you will need to have your  Master Card, Visa, or Discover credit card ready. You will also need to know the exact number of people you are making the reservation for, the date and time you would like to float, and the type of tubes you want.

How long does your tubing trip take?
Our float times vary depending on the water level. To find out the current float time please call our office.  Generally, as the summer progresses, float times increase.  Each trip has a scheduled departure and pick up time.

How is this section of the Dan River?

This area of the Dan River is very easy going.  There are some light rapids (class one). We always have enough water to float the entirety of your trip.

What if we are late returning from our trip?
We love structure! Our main goal is to give every guest the best possible experience.  There is no reason anyone should return late from a tubing trip.  We judge trip times each day and if you float through, the river will bring you in on time.

Where do I go to check in?
We have directions available right here on our website and it is always a good idea to take a look at them, even if you have GPS (a good number of people get lost).  When you arrive at Dan River Campground, come into the office, which is located next to the gravel parking area. If you have questions about our directions, please do not hesitate to call.

What should I bring with me on my trip?
We recommend bringing a hard-sided cooler, with drinks and snacks. Pack your cooler so that you can eat as you float. Don't forget your sunscreen!  Shoes to wear in the river are also recommended, as there are rocks and, unfortunately, glass on the bottom.

What about towels?
Items such as clothing, towels, and car keys should be left at the office. Towels and other personal items may be stored in your vehicle until you return. Keys can be held in the office.  We simply cannot hold 100+ towels on the buses.

Is there a picnic area?
This year we have added a shaded picnic area for our guests to enjoy.

What happens if I damage a tube?
We understand that accidents happen and nature is unpredictable. However, you will be responsible for any damage due to negligence or causes such as cigarettes, tied together tubes, sharp objects, etc.

What do we do with our trash?
Each group is given a trash bag. If we forget to give you one, please ask! We take care of all of our own trash and we recycle. Your bus driver will take your trash from you upon exiting the river.

The following items should be left at home:
All types of glass and styrofoam
Rope (Leads will be provided for your coolers and small children)
